Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has compared Liverpool striker Andy Carroll to his former teammate Didier Drogba. During his eight seasons at the West London outfit, Drogba managed to win all major titles. He went on to be considered as one of the fiercest strikers in world football due to his strength, pace, and skill. Cole has said that Carroll has the weapons in his armoury to become a similar player like Drogba in the future. The former Newcastle United star is currently on loan at West Ham United till the end of the season.
The London club have been conducting negotiations with Liverpool for the permanent transfer of Carroll, who cost Liverpool £ 35 million only a few seasons ago. He does not fit into the Brendan Rodgers style of management, while he is perfect for Sam Allardyce’s style of long ball football. West Ham have benefited hugely from the arrival of Carroll especially due to the poor form of Carlton Cole. Cole, who recently sealed his permanent move to West Ham after a disastrous spell at Liverpool, has praised Carroll from what he has seen in training of the 25-year-old England star.
Drogba is currently playing for Turkish club Galatasaray after returning from his spell in Shanghai after just six months.
“Andy Carroll’s a great talent. He reminds me of Didier Drogba. You can see him in the tunnel and he intimidates the centre halves with his long hair and broad shoulders, throwing them about. He’s been a real handful. It’s great to see him playing with so much confidence and with a smile on his face. West Ham definitely want to keep Andy Carroll. I don’t know the ins and outs of the deal,” said Joe Cole in a recent interview. Carroll is valued at around £ 20 million now.
