Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard is of the opinion that the club will definitely miss the presence of Didier Drogba next season.
The former Ivory Coast international decided to leave Chelsea for a second time in his career. Drogba had returned to the blues for a one year spell only last summer. It proved to be a very successful one indeed after he lifted two more titles to add to his collection. Drogba may have featured little during the Premier League campaign, but he scored important goals against the likes of Tottenham to set up a famous fourth league winners’ medal.
Drogba is known to share a great relationship withHazard, who won the PFA Player of the Year title last season.Hazard says that the amount of influence that Drogba had on the squad – despite not being a first-team regular – was immense. A leader and motivator of men, Drogba has hinted that he will return to Stamford Bridge in another capacity in the future. He is expected to join a MLS club in this transfer window before ending his career next year. Drogba stated that the reason for leaving Chelsea once again was the lack of first-team football at the end of his career.
“For me, Drogba was a lot like Samuel Eto’o last season, a legend who you respect a lot. I was able to talk to them a lot because they speak the same language as me.Maybe the fact he was in our dressing room helped us and even one per cent can make a big difference. I am proud that I can say with my kids I played for a season with him and we won the League together. I’m sad because he’s left, but I speak to him every day. He’s a legend and I have so much respect for him,” said Hazard.
