Former Manchester City and Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has stated that Italian champions Juventus could really benefit from signing former Chelsea star Didier Drogba. The 36-year-old has been heavily linked with a Juventus in the last few weeks. He announced his Galatasaray exit after just under two years at the Turkish club. Even at this age, Drogba is to be a major draw for the top clubs. He has been linked with a return to Chelsea as well. However, it is understood that the player is favouring a move to Juventus where he may get more first-team opportunities.
Mancini has paid tribute to the former Galatasaray start by saying that he may have worked with him for only one season, but it was such a great experience for him. Despite being a winner of several top trophies in his career, Drogba was a pleasure to work with according to Mancini, who has never made such glowing tributes to his players before. He says that Juventus are clearly targeting a good Champions League run and that Drogba will provide them exactly that with his experience. Antonio Conte has only a limited range of top-class strikers available at his disposal. They include Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.
“It would be a great signing if Juve were to get Drogba. I have coached Drogba this season and for me it has only been a pleasure to do it.He is a great champion. I can tell you I really have been surprised by Drogba. He is an extraordinary person. He has always conducted himself well for me, from the first to the last minute. He has been a tower of strength for my team this season. He would be a great and important reinforcement for Juve, especially when you consider Juve want to give the Champions League a good go,” said the Galatasaray manager.
