Chelsea manager José Mourinho thinks that star striker Didier Drogba could have a future with Chelsea once again. The Ivory Coast international is regarded as one of the best strikers to have played for the club in its illustrious history. During his eight years at Stamford Bridge, Drogba scored more than 150 goals as he established himself as one of the greats in the Premier league. He is right now playing for Turkish club Galatasaray after not being offered a new deal by Chelsea. Upon the arrival of Mourinho, it was rumoured that Drogba will return to Chelsea.
At 35 years of age, though, it is now looking unlikely that Drogba will return to his former stomping grounds. However, Mourinho is confident that the club will be able to be reunited with its former star in some form in the future. It is expected that Drogba will become an ambassador for Chelsea in Africa once he retires from playing. It was Mourinho who initially brought Drogba to the club back in 2004 for a then record transfer fee of £ 24 million from Marseille.
Mourinho has said that it is no secret of the fact that he is a huge fan of Drogba. He thinks that the striker would have been successful wherever he went because he is a winner.
“He is a player and he is a winner and he enjoys his game and I almost had a heart attack because of him. Let him enjoy a good couple of years of football but, after that, he is loved in this club by everyone and that’s very, very normal. I think one day he will have a Chelsea future. Is it normal that Didier will be in the future connected with Chelsea again, I think yes. How? I don’t know,” said Mourinho.
